Always follow the latest official notice for your exam or application. This table is for reference only: requirements change between years and between posts, and a newer notice replaces the values here. We list a requirement only when we could read it in an official document or website; anything we could not confirm is left out.
Photo and signature requirements
KB ranges are as written in the notices. Kilomill counts a maximum as 1,000 bytes per KB and a minimum as 1,024 bytes per KB, so a file it makes passes either way of counting.

Not listed: RRB (Railway Recruitment Boards) (the official RRB websites did not load for us, and the figures circulating elsewhere disagree with each other); Indian passport (Passport Seva) (there is no photo upload: the photo is taken at the Passport Seva Kendra, and the printed-photo rules are not a file requirement); UPSC Civil Services 2027 (the notice is not out yet; the ESE 2027 notice above uses UPSC’s current rules); NEET (UG) 2026 finger and thumb impressions (the bulletin gives two different ranges (10–200 KB and 50–300 KB)). The UK and Canadian pages ask for unedited photos: if your original already meets the limits, upload it as it is.
How to use a row
- Open the compressor from the row. The maximum, the minimum, JPG output and, where the notice gives a single pixel size (or for GATE and US visas, the largest allowed), the width and height are filled in; the image is then cropped to that shape from the centre (“Fill exactly”). For a different framing, use Crop & rotate on the image first.
- Add your photo or scanned signature. The result shows the exact size in bytes; Compare lets you zoom in to check the face or strokes.
- Check the other requirements yourself: background colour, a recent photo, name and date written on the photo, ink colour. A compressor cannot fix those.
Common reasons uploads are rejected
- Too small in KB. Some forms set a minimum. Kilomill raises the quality and, if needed, pads the JPG; see increase image size in KB.
- Wrong format. Most portals accept JPG/JPEG only. iPhone photos (HEIC) are converted to JPG automatically; see HEIC to JPG.
- Wrong shape. If the notice gives pixels, crop to that ratio first with Crop image so the face is not cut off.
- Signature too faint. Sign in dark ink on plain white paper and crop tightly; a white background costs almost no bytes. See compress to 20 KB.
