How it works
When Photoshop saves a PSD, it stores a flattened copy of the whole image next to the layers (the “Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility” option, on by default). Kilomill converts that flattened image, so the result looks exactly like the document did when it was saved.
- Add the PSD files.
- Pick JPG for photos, or PNG under Output format to keep a transparent background.
- Download the result, or set a KB limit first for an upload form.
Limits
- Layers are not edited one by one: hidden layers stay hidden, and you cannot switch layers on or off here.
- No flattened copy? If compatibility was turned off when saving, the PSD contains only layers and the tool says so. Ask for the file again with compatibility on, or for a PNG export.
- Very large documents are limited to 100 megapixels and 16,384 px per side.
Measured with Kilomill
A 9.02 MB PSD of 2,000 × 2,000 pixels became an 84.3 KB JPG in about half a second.
